Rajasthan Desert TourDuration : 05 Nights/06 Days Destinations : Delhi – Jodhpur – Osian – Jodhpur - Delhi Day 1 : Arrive DelhiArrive Delhi by International flight in the evening. Delhi, the city is acclaimed for being the cultural capital of India. The spectacular architecture of Delhi city is evident through its antique monuments. This city witnesses an interesting blend of diverse cultures (some even 5000 years old). Delhi has always had a mysterious eternity, the city having witnessed empires rise to glory and fall to ashes. The contemporary Delhi is a culmination of seven cities built by different emperors. Ruins of this ancient city are found even today and now converted to some major tourist attractions, which can be seen during city tours. You will be well received on your arrival at the airport and transfer to hotel. Traditional welcome upon your arrival at hotel with arti, tikka, garlanding & welcome drink. After check- in formality, you will check in to the room. OPTION : Midnight snacks to be served on arrival. Overnight in Delhi. Day 2 : DelhiBuffet Breakfast at hotel. Later, proceed for full day city tour of Old Delhi (in the morning) & New Delhi (in the afternoon). The city of Delhi can broadly be divided into two parts, Old Delhi and New Delhi. Old Delhi was the capital of Delhi’s Muslim rulers notably the Mughals between 17th & 19th centuries. New Delhi on the other hand is referred to as the IMPERIAL city when the British decided to move their capital from Calcutta in 1911. The sightseeing of Old Delhi includes a visit to Jama Masjid which is India's largest mosque, built of red sandstone and white marble in the middle of the 17th century. Red Fort, a 17th century fort complex constructed by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the walled city of Old Delhi, Rajghat, cremation site of father of Nation- Mahatma Gandhi) and rickshaw rally through the streets of Chandni Chawk (Silver Street), once the imperial avenue down which Shah Jehan rode at the head of lavish cavalcades, is today bustling with shops, stalls and silversmiths' ateliers. Lunch at local restaurant (Indian cuisine). Sightseeing of New Delhi includes a visit to India Gate, built in memory of Indian soldiers killed during the First World War. Drive pass Rashtrapati Bhawan, built in the early 20th century as the Imperial residence of the Viceroy is today the official residence of the President of India and Parliament House, an unique circular building with huge colonnades, houses the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament. Humayun's Tomb is the first Mughal garden tomb. Visitors are immediately struck by the tomb's resemblance to its more famous cousin - the Taj Mahal - with its four grand gateways, octagonal base-plan, soaring niche-shaped arches, lofty double domes and the symmetrical garden with its central canal. And finally Qutab Minar, one of Delhi’s most striking monuments, which is the world's tallest brick minaret with a height of 72.5 meters. Buffet Dinner at hotel’s restaurant. Overnight in Delhi. Day 3 : Delhi/ Jodhpur/ OsianBuffet Breakfast at hotel. Later, Transfer to airport to board flight to Jodhpur. Arrive Jodhpur and transfer to a hotel for Lunch. After having lunch in Jodhpur, drive towards Osian (60kms & 1.5hrs drive). On the way, visit the numerous ancient Jain and Hindu temples, some temples dating back to 8th to 11th centuries. This ancient village of Osian, located 65kms (1.5hrs drive) from Jodhpur and is the gateway to the Thar desert and legendary for it's ancient 6th & 8th century temples, sand-dunes and diversity of Rajasthani culture and tradition. The very approach to this spot is through a few hillocks admist the brown sandy stretch, dotted by scattered hamlets with thatch roof & ochre colour mud walls.Besides the comfortable camel safari, one also gets to see proud local tribes- Bishnois, Bhils, Shepherds, potters, weavers etc in their natural surroundings not to mention the various varieties of desert wildlife like blue bulls, gazelles, foxes, peacocks, partridges etc. Reggies’s Camel Camp Osian, the first of its kind in India, is operated by the colorful Reggie Singh, grandson of Maharaj Ratan Singh of Jodhpur. During the season (September to March) up to 65 traditional Rajasthani-style tents are erected. This permanent camp site offers accommodation in spacious tents, furnished with carpets, comfortable beds with ensuite bathrooms with seated flush toilet & shower. All are insect/mosquito and waterproof and all are decorated with Indian motives and style. Arrive Osian and check in to your tents. Enjoy High Tea at sunset. OPTION: Camel Race with marching band and High Tea. In the evening, enjoy the folk entertainment, followed by a BBQ Dinner. You may at this time like to retire to your tent or sit by the fire and sip a cognac or smoke a cigar. Overnight in Osian. Day 4 : Osian/ Jodhpur (65Kms & 1.5hrs drive)Buffet Breakfast in the Camp. Later, proceed for a camel safari to the nearby oasis, en-route you will see blue bulls, gazelles, foxes. Camel Safari in Osian is a great experience. The camel safari will take you destinations where you will witnesses small villages along the way. The views are exceptionally enticing. You will ride along Bishnoi territory and enjoy the cultural splendor of spectacular Rajasthan. You can explore the rugged terrain of the Great Indian Desert of Thar using camels. The Aravalli Range here are one of the world's oldest, and have sandy fields, small dunes, beautiful hills and mesmerizing sunrises and sunsets. Return to the camp by jeeps. After Lunch at camp, drive back to Jodhpur. Jodhpur is the land of the valiant Rathore kings, whose courage was a match for the tyranny of the Thar Desert. A bleak scarp rears up 120 meters from the desert valley. Straddling the rocky crevices is the massive Jodhpur Fort, its sheer walls reflecting the strength of its warrior builders. Arrive Jodhpur and check in to your hotel. In the later afternoon, proceed for Jeep Safari to visit Bishnoi Village. The Bishnoi’s are an eco Friendly sect of Hindu religion, it is one of the different community of Rajasthan who are famous for there rich cultural Rajasthani Life and there true love for nature and animals. BBQ Dinner in the lawn of hotel Rohetgarh Fort with Rajasthani dance. Return to Jodhpur after the dinner. Overnight in Jodhpur. Day 5 : JodhpurBuffet Breakfast at hotel. This morning, proceed for city tour of Jodhpur, visiting the imposing Mehrangarh Fort, undoubtedly the most prominent landmark of the city. The museum within the fort is one of the finest in Rajasthan and displays royal apparel, ancient paintings and manuscripts, fabled treasures of the royal household and an armory and Jaswant Thada – Maharaja Jaswant Singh II's cenotaph, built in 1899 - all previous rulers have their cenotaphs at Mandore. Buffet Lunch at hotel’s restaurant. Rest of the day at leisure to visit the market for shopping etc. Old/classic silver jewellery, tie-and-dye fabrics, embroidered ‘jutis’ or slippers in suede, camel skin, and velvet, lacquer-ware, antiques, carpets, Rajasthani puppets and marble inlay work. Bar-Be-Que dinner in the garden of the hotel with Rajasthani Dance. OPTION : Grand Gala Dinner at Mehrangarh Fort- catered by Umaid Bhawan Palace. Grand Royal evening that takes you back to the days of The Maharajas. Women in traditional Rajasthani costume welcome you with aarti & tikka rituals and petals & flowers are showered on you and musicians playing Shehnais & Dhol (local musical instruments). You will be served champagne cocktail, while you are absorbing the beauty of this magnificent Fort. The Fort will be fully illuminated and looking resplendent. This special evening includes a Royal welcome, Champagne cocktail, a Royal Dinner with local dancers & musicians and a firework display. Overnight in Jodhpur. Day 6 : Jodhpur/ DelhiBuffet Breakfast at hotel. Morning at leisure for independent activities or shopping etc. Buffet Lunch at hotel’s restaurant. In the afternoon, transfer to airport to board flight to Delhi. Arrive Delhi and transfer to the city centre for last minutes shopping etc. Later, transfer to a hotel for wash & change, followed by a Farewell dinner. EXTENSION TO AGRA Day 6 : Jodhpur/Agra - charter flight In the afternoon, transfer to airport to board charter flight to Agra. Agra is the city of Taj Mahal and one of the famed cities of India. Once the capital of the Mughal Empire, Agra houses one of world's most spectacular monuments - Taj Mahal. The history of Agra is much older than the times of Mughals. The Mughal rule had transformed the city into one of the great centers of art, culture, learning and commerce. Magnificent monuments in majestic work of art and architecture are still flourishing with arts and crafts including leather work and pietra dura marble-inlay work. Arrive Agra and check in to your hotel. In the evening, proceed towards Mahtab Bagh, which is situated on the sandy bank of Yamuna River just opposite the Taj Mahal mausoleum. The place is an ideal spot for it provides picturesque view of Taj Mahal. The name Mehtab Bagh means 'Moon Lit Garden' and the same was testified by the beautiful reflection of Taj Mahal in the pool at night in Mahtab Bagh. It is believed that the great emperor Shah Jahan who built Taj Mahal for his queen wanted an identical one for himself at Mehtab Bagh. However the archaeological findings have proved the existence of garden complex. Whatever the popular beliefs be, the place is worth a visit as it provides bewitching image of Taj Mahal. Enjoy tea/ coffee here and return to hotel in auto rickshaws. Buffet Dinner at hotel’s lawn with Kathakali dance. OPTION : MUGHAL Theme Dinner in the hotel’s lawn with Kathakali dance. This theme dinner takes you back to the fabled world of the Mughals. "Chobdars" (gatekeepers) usher guests to the "dawat-khana" (venue of the function). Hostesses clad in silken, flowing `ghagra' (skirts) and `chunnis' (veils) welcome the guests with flowers and "attar" (perfume) in the traditional style. The sultry melodies of live Indian classical music, sumptuous Mughlai cuisine, live Kathak dance performance (the royal dance of the Mughal Courts) makes a traditional Mughal dinner, a truly unforgettable experience. Overnight in Agra. Day 7 : Agra/ Delhi (210Kms & 4hrs drive) OPTION: Wake early morning to visit Taj Mahal at sunrise (an extra cost). Buffet Breakfast at hotel. Later, proceed for city tour of Agra, visiting the massive Agra Fort- constructed out of red sand stone by the Mughal Emperor Akbar and containing the Halls of Public and Private Audience, Itmad-ud daulah, one of the most beautiful of Mughal tombs, stands across the river Yamuna and finally visit the world famous TAJ MAHAL, which was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as the mausoleum of his beloved Queen Mumtaz Mahal, after her death in 1631. The Taj Mahal is recognized worldwide as a symbol of eternal love. Taj Mahal remains closed on Fridays. Buffet Lunch at hotel’s restaurant. In the afternoon, drive to Delhi. Arrive Delhi and transfer to the city centre for last minutes shopping etc. Later, transfer to a hotel for wash & change, followed by a Farewell dinner.
