Panch Kedar TourDuration : 16 Nights/17 Days Destinations : Delhi – Haridwar – Rishikesh – Pipalkoti – Helang – Urgam – Kalgot – Rudranath – Sagar – Mandal – Chopta – Tunganath – Jagasu – Gaundhar – Madmaheshwar – Guptkashi – Gaurikund - Kedarnath – Rudrapryagag – Haridwar - Delhi (Best time : June to October) The Panch Kedar trek includes all the five shrines associated with the Hindu legends. All of them are situated in the Kedar Valley. At Kedarnath, which is situated at the head of the Mandakini River, the Linga is a natural rock that resembles the hump of a bull. Madhmaheshwar, situated at the base of Chaukhamba Peak is at an altitude of 3500mtr. Here the Linga is worshipped in the form of a navel. Tungnath, where the arm of Shiva appeared is the highest temple in Garhwal is situated at an altitude of 3689mtr. 500mtr above the Tungnath temple is Chandrashila, from where the panoramic view of the Himalayas is breathtaking. Rudranath is where the face of Shiva is said to have appeared. Here is a natural rock temple in which the Shiva Mukha “face” is worshipped. To reach Rudranath, one has to trek through alpine meadows and dense forests. Kalpeshwar is situated in the beautiful valley of Urgam. There is a cave temple here and Shiva is worshipped in his matted hair form. Punch Kedar are : 1. Kedarnath (3584mtr) 2. Madhmaheshwar (3289mtr) 3. Tungnath (3680mtr) 4. Rudranath (2286mtr) 5. Kalpanath (2134mtr) Day 1 : Arrive DelhiArrive Delhi by International flight in the evening. Delhi, the city is acclaimed for being the cultural capital of India. The spectacular architecture of Delhi city is evident through its antique monuments. This city witnesses an interesting blend of diverse cultures (some even 5000 years old). Delhi has always had a mysterious eternity, the city having witnessed empires rise to glory and fall to ashes. The contemporary Delhi is a culmination of seven cities built by different emperors. Ruins of this ancient city are found even today and now converted to some major tourist attractions, which can be seen during city tours. You will be well received on your arrival at the airport and transfer to hotel. Traditional welcome upon your arrival at hotel with arti, tikka, garlanding & welcome drink. After check- in formality, you will check in to the room. Overnight in Delhi. Day 2 : Delhi/ Haridwar- Train & drive to Rishikesh (25Kms & 1hrs drive)Tea/ Coffee at hotel with cookies. Later, transfer to New Delhi railway station to board train- Shatabdi Express (06h50/ 11h25) to Haridwar. Breakfast will be served on board by Indian Railways. Haridwar in the state of Uttarakhand has the eminence of being one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimage destinations of India. The holy town occupies a picturesque location on the banks of River Ganga, also referred to as 'Mother Ganga' by the Hindu community. Not only from across the country but from across the world, devotees and travelers arrived here to seek spirituality. The name 'Haridwar' means 'Gateway to God'. Haridwar is more popular for 'Kumbh Mela', the largest fair in human history, which is held here at the interval of every 12 years. Arrive Haridwar and have a quick look at the famous Har Ki Pauri, this ghat is one of the most sacred ghats in India. People say that this ghat was built by Vikramaditya in memory of his brother Bhartrihari. This ghat is also known as Brahmakund. Later, drive towards Rishikesh. Arrive Rishikesh and proceed to visit the various places at Rishikesh. Rishikesh is a scenic town located on the banks of river Ganges and is an important access point to the famous pilgrim spots of the Himalayas such as Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. The various spiritual centers, yogic ashrams located here have made this town the “world capital of Yoga”. The international tourists also drop in here in large numbers seeking spiritual enlightenment and also to enjoy the natural treasures of this place. The major highlights of this town are Lakshman Jhula, Bharat Mandir, Triveni Ghat, Rishikund, Geeta Bhawan, Swarg Ashram and Trayambakeshwar Temple. In the evening, witness the evening arti of holy Ganges at Parmarth Niketan. Overnight in Rishikesh. Day 3 : Rishikesh/ Pipalkoti (1219mtr)- 215Kms & 7- 8hrs drive)After breakfast, drive towards Pipalkoti via Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karanprayag, Nandprayag. Arrive Pipalkoti and check in to your hotel. Overnight in Pipalkoti. Day 4 : Pipalkoti/ Helang/ Urgam (2134mtr)- 9kms & 3-4hrs trek After breakfast, drive towards Helang (15kms) and then start trek up to Urgam Village (9kms & 3-4hrs trek). You will cross Alaknanda River via Road Bridge. The trek pass through the dense forest, murmuring water falls along with Kalp Ganga. Urgam Valley is famous for its apple orchard, terraced fields and potatoes. Evening free to explore the fascinating Urgam Valley. Overnight in Urgam in Tents. Day 5 : Urgam/ Kalpeshwar (2160mtr)/ Urgam- 2kms one side & 5-6hrs trek)After early breakfast, you will start trek up towards the first Kedar i.e. Kalpeshwar (one of Panch Kedar). We will go with packed lunch. The locks (hair) of Lord Shiva worshiped in this temple. From here you will have the striking views of valley with terraced fields and lush green forests. Later return trek to Urgam. Overnight in Urgam in Tents. Day 6 : Urgam/ Kalgot (2215mtr)- 12kms & 5-6hrs trek After an early breakfast, start trek up to Kalgot Village through dense forest and lush green meadows. This is in fact a tough day. Arrive Kalgot village in the evening and meet the locals and know their culture etc. Overnight in Kalgot in Tents. Day 7 : Kalgot/ Rudranath (2286mtr)-12kms & 5-6hrs trek)After an early breakfast. Start trek up to the temple of Sri Rudranath, second Kedar and another form of Lord Shiva. In this temple the face of the Lord Shiva is worshiped. From here we can see a splendid view of Hathi Parvat, Nanda Devi, Nanda Ghunti, Trishuli and other group of peaks. You can also visit the Suryakund, Chandrakund, Tarakund which is located nearby the temple. Overnight in Rudranath in Tents. Day 8 : Rudranath/ Sagar/ Mandal (18kms & 5-6hrs trek & 8kms drive) After breakfast, start trek down to Sagar Village through the dense forest and meadows. Arrive Sagar village and drive towards Mandal, which is also known Cherapunji of Garhwal. Overnight in Mandal in Tents. Day 9 : Mandal/ Chopta (2900Mtr)/ Tunganath (3680mtr)After breakfast, drive towards Chopta (19kms & 2hrs drive). Chopta is situated at an altitude of 2900 m from the sea level. The place provides a panoramic view of the Himalayas and the surrounding areas. Now start trek towards Tungnath (the third Kedar) with packed lunch. It is about 4kms & 3hrs trek. Tungnath temple is situated at the height of 3680mts from the sea level and highest in India. In this temple the arm of the Lord Shiva is worshiped. The trek is 3hrs upward. You will find lush green meadows and see the entire range of snow clapped Himalayan range. Arrive Tungnath and visit the temple. After relax one can trek Chandrashila peak 1kms ahead, from where the panoramic view of the Himalayas is breathtaking. Overnight in Tunganath in Tents. Day 10 : Tunganath/ Chopta/ Jagasu/ Gaundhar After breakfast, start trek back to Chopta (4kms & 3hrs trek) and then drive towards Jagasu (45 kms & 2hrs drive). Then start trek up to Gaundhar (13kms & 5-6hrs trek). The confluence of Madmaheshwar Ganga and Makandya Ganga is the last place that is worth a visit before one reaches Madmaheshwar. Overnight in Gaundhar in Tents. Day 11 : Gaundhar/ Madmaheshwar (3289mtr)After an early breakfast, start trek (18kms & 5-6hrs) up to Madhya Maheshwar (the forth Kedar). It is believed that the navel mid part of the body reappeared at this shrine after disappearing at Kedarnath. Here you see the magnificent view of Chaukhamba, Kedarnath and the Neelkanth peaks. Overnight in Madmaheshwar in Tents. Day 12 : Madmaheshwar/ Gaundhar After an early breakfast, start trek (18kms & 5-6hrs) back to Gaundhar. Overnight in Gaundhar in Tents. Day 13 : Gaundhar/ Jagasu/ Guptakashi After an early breakfast, After an early breakfast trek back to Jagasu (13kms & 5-6hrs). Arrive Jagasu and drive towards Guptkashi (30kms & 2hrs drive). Arrive Guptakashi and check in to your hotel. Overnight in Guptakashi. Day 14 : Guptakashi/ Gaurikund/ Kedarnath (3584mts)After an early breakfast, drive towards Gaurikund (37kms & 2hrs drive). Arrive Gaurikund and start your 14kms trek up to Sri Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The trek is passes through beautiful surroundings. Arrive Kedarnath and check in to your hotel. Overnight in Kedarnath. Day 15 : Kedarnath/ Gaurikund/ Rudraprayag (75kms & 3hrs drive) After breakfast, proceed to visit Kedarnath temple and later, trek down to Gaurikund. Arrive Gaurikund and drive towards Rudraprayag through river Mandakini. Arrive Rudraprayag and check into your hotel. In the evening visit the confluence of Alaknanda & Mandakini Rivers. Overnight in Kedarnath. Day 16 : Rudraprayag/ Haridwar (160kms & 5hrs drive)/Dehi After breakfast at hotel, drive towards Haridwar via Devprayag (Confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi). From here the river known as Ganges. Arrive Haridwar and transfer to railway station to board train train- Shatabdi Express (18h13/ 22h45). You will be well received at Delhi railway station and transfer to hotel. Arrive hotel and check in to your room. Overnight in Delhi. Day 17 : Delhi/ Fly out Buffet Breakfast at hotel.
